Preparing for Construction

Construction Preparation
Wiring, plumbing and A/C:
According to FHA standards, electrical, plumbing, telephone, security, A/C, and any other service lines should not be within 3 inches of the roof deck. We cannot be held responsible for the puncture of improperly installed lines. If you know that any of these lines do not meet this criteria, please notify us, and we can help you find a reputable contractor and work with them to expedite these repairs.
Light fixtures, mirrors, and pictures:
Please check to make sure that your light fixtures, mirrors, and paintings or pictures are securely attached to the wall or ceiling. If there is any doubt, it’s always safer to take them down for construction.
Plaster and sheetrock:
In older plaster or where attic space between sheetrock and plywood is minimal, crow’s feet and small cracks may appear due to the vibrations of a hammer and cannot be avoided. Vaulted ceilings are especially vulnerable.
Trees and shrubs:
Landscaping adds a lot to the character of a home and can often be costly. If any trees or shrubs hang over your roof, you may want to have them professionally trimmed before construction. Our workers will have to cut any limbs that limit their ability to efficiently and safely do their job.
Chimney:
We change out both step flashing and counter flashing at the base of the chimney as needed. We assume liability only for the flashing that we change out. This does not include the brick, brick mortar, stone, stucco, Hardie or wood siding on your chimney or chimney cap.
Solar panels:
It is the sole responsibility of the homeowner to arrange the removal of solar panels prior to construction unless otherwise stated in your contract.
Antennas:
We can remove or reinstall satellites and antennas up to 20 ft in height. We cannot be held liable for the breaking of old lead in wires or for the reception of reinstalled satellite dishes. We recommend contacting your dish service for best practices on reinstallation.
Tear-off:
You will need to cover up any items in your attic and garage that require protection from old roof debris.
